Last Blog Post 2016 Hike and Raft

Last week Rimu class went to hike on the Bridal Path to littleton.

I was really saw the next day.

We walked up and up and up.

when  were finished we went to town for lunch.

Then we went to a beach to make rafts.

We had 20 mins to make the raft.

After that we tested the raft and had two races.

After that Jayden Base Hunter and I went to Mcdonalds.

In the start of Term 4, Rimu class did Prototec graphs. Prototec is a website to help your basic facts. It helps you learn your basic facts because you have new problems to solve every time on your maths stage.

This is important because if you can’t do your basic facts you can't solve maths problems.

I'm Stage Five in my Maths Basic Facts and it helps me  with my basic maths knowledge.

We do this most of the time every week so it will be locked in our minds. My next step is to start practising Stage 6 Basic Facts.

Well I thought about making an animation on Scratch but what could I make an animation about. Then suddenly Terminator came in brain and that was that. It was a little challenging but I did it. Alex rider Report

In the start of Term 3, we did a novel study. A novel study is about studying a book and making a story web about it and it's about thinking about what you are reading.

I did my study on Alex Rider ´Point Blanc´ (which is the second Alex Rider book by Anthony Horowitz). Point Blanc is about  a boarding school for troubled/rebellious boys. Point Blanc is in France.

It was hard to get all the facts without spoiling some stuff in the book.

Digi Award

At the start of Term 3 we worked on making Digi Awards. The DigiAwards is about creating digital creations for kids/teens.
The theme is Be the Change. I made an animation based on the movie ´Pay it Forward´.
This animation is about if you help a random person then they help a random person and it goes on and on.

Speech(video games is a good hobby.)

In the third week of Term 3 we learned how to write and create persuasive speeches. I did ¨Video games is a good hobby¨.

I picked the topic because I love video games and I wanted to show why I love them. It was a challenge to get all the facts that could  convince people that video games is  a good hobby but I did get some juicy facts.

Cycle safety

This week in Rimu class Cycle Safety (from the Christchurch City Council) came to our class for the Year 6s. They were here for 3 days. We went on the road to learn about intersections and what goes first on the road. We also learnt a 4. Safety check for our bike...you have to check: brakes, wheels pumped, quick releases, and red reflectors. I found it hard staying on the correct side on the road.You can read the photo of what I can do. My next step is to stay more balanced so I need to practise a bit more!

Ian was coding one day with  his friend Jacob. Then Jacobś eyes disappeared, my room did as well. Then I saw binary code everywhere.

Then a man came in and said ¨hi wellcome to root¨.

then he said ¨this is the real world that was just affects¨ The man was wearing a work tux.

4 Years later I was working at my lame office job. My Boss was being mean. I Thought to myself  and wished he would go away.Then my boss looked like a glitch, his body went big,small and muddled up. Then he disappeared.

Then someone called me on the phone.The guy said type tracert path 001.Then I teleported into a house. A  man came out with a long coat said ”I called” did  you ever feel like nothing was real and I said ¨yes¨.

Then he said ¨take the white 0 or the green 0.The white one make you believe what you want, the green will give you the truth¨.

5 Months later, I learnt the ways of that world.Then one day everyone turned into code.I thought I was in The real  world because it looked like the team base.Then one agent came and said ¨you are under a rest¨ and I was in prison for 4 months.Then my team came back. Then said, ¨you were in the computer world again¨.

Then The creator of the computer world was killed. Then I Hacked the world and I shut it down.

In our class this week 7/6/16 (date)  .We had to do haiku poems .The haiku poem is A japanese seventeen syllable poem.

How Pinky Was Made

This is a Fan made story of how pinky was made. I love pac man and this why I did it and if you want the story to go fast press the arrow keys. I learnt how to make Google Slides into an animation, instead of Scratch so that was fun.

Ronald says he is going to make yaldhurst school great again.  The first thing he plans to do not let other  countries into school.
He  got lots of votes from people, so did Jayden.
Then one day they got into an agument in who is going to be vice president and the war begin.
Roanld made bill boards.  Jayden did online advertisement and asked  people to put it on there class blogs.
On the election day .  Jayden and Ronald were tied. Ronald did not like this. So he said sign your name . He got 4 more votes then he became class president.  5  months later Ronald was doing stupid things,  people didn't like him any more so the student consel kicked him out.

My Gallipoli reading work!

Bree, Ariana and I + year fours and fives  from school went to Hanmer Forest Camp, on March 9 th 2016. We were  at camp for three days It  was an overcast morning with a hint of blue in the sky.  I was happy to go on camp because this was my first camp. I was wearing my baseball cap which is going to be a collectors item, and I am going to get lots of money for it.  It was a two hour drive in my Mumś car to get to camp.  The girls kept on talking for the whole two hours, even when I asked them to be quiet.

Once I found my bunk room with Hunter and called dibs for beds, we then started our first activity.  My group went tree climbing.  I put on gear to climb up the tree, the gear was not comfortable because I felt like I was getting an atomic wedgie! .  I used the branches to pull myself up the tree, because I did not feel comfortable using the wood supports attached to the tree.  When I was happy at the height I reached, I pushed myself away from the tree and was lowered to the ground by the ropes.  Lucy almost made it to the top of the tree, she probably felt quite proud of herself.

When we got back from tree climbing we had home baking.

For dinner on the first night we had lasagna, it did not taste as great as my step mumś.  

After dinner we went to the Hanmer Springs Hot pools where I went on the hydroslides.  I  kept on going backwards and closing my eyes and spinning on the slide.  I went on all of them. My favourite one was the dark slide, because you couldn’t see anything. The super ball was a 5/10 for me, because it was not that fast. The white hydroslide was OK I guess it was kind of like the dark one.  I was so tired from the hydro slides. Two hydro slides were really fast.

In the morning (6 0.0) I got up and went for a run until 7.00am with Mr M and the other kids from my group, it was a tiring start to the day.  When I got back from my run I had rice bubbles and Milo ™.   Then my group did Mission Impossible, I did not enjoy this activity because we had to solve this really difficult puzzle, we had to walk along logs and we had to do some activities without talking!  It was all about team building, and I found it really challenging because I like working with my friends.  After that we walked up Conical Hill and we ate free range blackberrys.  I wished we could´ve walked up the waterfall track, but we couldn´t because of the fire.

At camp I really only liked one thing,  the Hydroslide, because I am not scared of the water and going fast on water.  The camp would´be more enjoyable for me if the Mission Impossible involved decoding messages, giving us activities that we would not expect.

Wonder in first person.

Last week our writing task was to write a first person essay based on our book 'Wonder' This is the one I wrote. I think the book is quite interesting. Leave a comment!

Wonder is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written in the first person.

Example one , he uses  the  first person. For Example in the first paragraph he says,

“my  name is August.I won't describe what I look like.Whatever you're thinking it's probably worse”.

Example two, In the book ‘Wonder’, Palacio uses the  first person point of view to tell the story from chapter one to ten.

In  conclusion  I think that Wonder uses  the first  person in the book.

The Warrior!

Today the Year 6s  did some shared writing and we learnt an interesting way to start a story using a noun and a relative clause. I also put in a simile and learnt some new interesting words.

The warrior, who was scared as a chicken, ran away as fast as a roadrunner.Then the giants laughed so hard  they exploded, his troops was so mad they said kill him,”ahh”, said the warrior...so after that the troops had a victory dance. “Never let giants laugh,” says the warriors mum.
